Choosing Caravan Awnings For Travel And Camping

With the increasing popularity of people enjoying the life in a travel trailer or caravan, awnings are becoming an important element in travels. They are especially helpful in increasing the space of a small caravan to further enjoy camping outdoors or for those travelers who need a comfortable place to sleep and be protected from the elements. These portable awnings have evolved from a simple canopy to provide shade into an additional livable quarter. With the variety of designs and materials in the market today, choosing the best awning can be difficult. Research and consultation with fellow caravan owners should be done in order to have the best quality.
When choosing awnings, quality, size and portability should be considered. Types of materials vary from light nylon or plastic material to heavy canvas fabric. This should be decided well according to the use of the awning. If a more permanent structure is preferred, canvas can be chosen while nylon or plastic can be opted when using the awning more often. A lot of frame materials are available and can be numerous especially in the internet. There are aluminum and fiberglass materials for easy and light assembly, or the more stable yet heavy steel frames. Size should also be considered when buying awnings. When traveling with the family, a larger size should be considered. There have been recent designs that have built-in compartments to allow for separate rooms complete with windows and doors. Caravan awnings are great investments for those who travel a lot and for those who just want to enjoy the outdoors.

Saab Sport Sedan Concept Black

Youngho Jong is a Korean design student, he taken Saab to looking towards future as sport sedan for 2025 Advanced Warning System Vehicle concept: a rakish, four-door saloon with coupe-like styling. And no headroom, by the looks of it, but that’s a forgivable oversight. More interesting to us, however, is how he used his knowledge of nature and human psychology to come up with a vehicle that isn’t just smart, it’s downright sinister.

With his research showing that 50% of vehicles accidents are caused by carelessness, excessive speed and tailgating, Jong wanted to create a car that would warn other drivers to back off and drive with care.

There are following the 2025 concept, slits open up in its rear panels revealing amber hazard lights, patches of the car’s skin also darken. The same amber slips are found on the front and sides of the vehicle. Jong took his inspiration from nature’s Fire Salamander, which uses its bright, menacing colours to ward off potential predators.

Jong also mentions that the Saab Sport Sedan Concept Study’s skin is constructed of a soft, impact absorbing material that reduces pedestrian injuries and vehicle damage in collisions. He incorporate sharp edges and the colours red and yellow to further emphasises the possible danger.

7 Tips For Winter Running

Winter running provides different challenges from running in hot weather. Here is a brief list of things that you should do while training in the Winter to keep yourself safe, fit and comfortable.

  1. Dressing properly and layering effectively is very important and is the first thing you should consider. The way that you dress can easily make or break even a simple run. Make sure that you wear bright or dark colors when you are out running. Orange and yellow shirts really stand out against snow, as does black during the day. Wearing a white shirt, though, can easily cause you to be lost against the snow much like wearing black at night can lose you into the darkness as a car is coming towards you.
  2. Get yourself proper footwear. Shoes with an aggressive tread are good, but an even better method is to add some sort of anti-slip device to any pair of running shoes to help you keep your feet on the ice. I have found that the best way for me to run when the surface might be slippery is to make screw shoes by putting sheet metal screws right into the sole of my running shoes. You could also try a product such as Stabilicers, which are a type of crampon that is designed to fit running shoes and is an expensive and not quite as effective way of getting screw shoes without having to actually put holes in the bottom of your shoes. You can also use spikes, which are racing shoes with holes that you can screw spikes into and which will give you a great grip since they are meant for muddy or icy cross country conditions.
  3. Run into the wind early in a run so that when you are tired at the end of your run you will have the wind at your back and you won't get as cold.
  4. Wear sunglasses or safety glasses to keep the wind from hitting your eyes when it is really cold out, which can cause your eyes to freeze shut. Another method to avoid the frozen eye problem is put petroleum jelly on your eyelashes, although I'll admit that I've always just worn eye protection and called it good.
  5. Drink plenty of water before and after your runs as you still need to stay just as hydrated as you would during the Summer. If you can manage it and are out running for a long time, try to get some hydration during your workout as well.
  6. Always wear or carry some sort of identification in case you get hurt. Depending upon where you run, you may also want to carry some bus or cab money in case conditions get too bad to continue running.
  7. If conditions are too bad to run outside, then head inside to use a treadmill. Take advantage of the season to do some cross training in the weight room.
Follow these simple guidelines and you'll manage to have a safe, comfortable Winter without losing much of your fitness so that you can come out strong in the Spring racing season.

Blaine Moore is a running coach in Southern Maine with 20 years of training and racing experience. Download his free report, The 3 Components of an Effective Workout, to learn why the work you put in during your training is only the third most important factor that determines how well you improve as a runner and an athlete.

How to Repair Car Rust Holes

Cars are prone to corrosion. Older unkempt vehicles tend to develop more rusts than well maintained ones. And when these rusts are untreated, overtime they eat the metal and create unsightly holes. Fortunately, there are simple ways that can be done to repair these holes. Unfortunately, the repair doesn't guarantee that it will last.

Nevertheless, repairs can still be done to fill up rust holes on your vehicle. There are numerous ways to do this. But the most cost-effective and practical way of repairing these rust holes is by using the fiberglass cloth kit. The steps are relatively easy to follow and carry out. All you just need are a good amount of elbow grease, of course the fiberglass cloth kit, electric grinder and drill, spreader, sandpaper and sanding discs.
Here are the 10 steps in repairing rust holes using the fiberglass cloth kit.
Step 1: Remove all excess trim and loose debris from the corroded part of the vehicle. Cut the rusted metal but leave enough to maintain the overall shape of the body of the car.
Step 2: Using an electric grinder with 24-grit disc, grind all traces of the rust including the primer and paint, just about four inches from the edge of the rust hole.
Step 3: With the use of 100-grit sanding block, sand the affected surface to get a clear and shiny surface. As for the edges of the rust hole, slightly tap them inwards using a ball-peen hammer.
Step 4: Get the release film from the fiberglass cloth kit and cut it about three inches larger than the sanded area. Lay the film over the rust hole. Mark this area with a pencil but avoid wrinkling the film.
Step 5: Cut two pieces of fiberglass matte to cover the rust hole. One piece of this matte should be about one inch smaller than the sanded area. The other piece should be one inch smaller than the size of the first matte.
Step 6: Get the cut release film and spread over it a layer of auto body repair jelly. Make sure that the film is facing outward. Then take the smaller fiberglass matte and place it over the release film with the jelly. Spread more repair jelly to the smaller fiberglass matte then place the larger cloth on it.
Step 7: Then place the entire repair material over the rust hole, making sure that the film is facing outward. With the use of a spreader, smooth it out over the rust hole in an outward motion. Follow the shape of the car body and make sure that you remove all the bubbles.
Step 8: Let the repair material cure overnight. And then the following day, remove the release film. Check if the repair material is completely set. Then sand the repaired area using an electric drill and sanding disc. Complete the repair and sanding using a block sander.
Step 9: If there are low spots, fill them with the filler material. Once the filler dries, file and smooth it out with 80-grit sandpaper.
Step 10: Apply the topcoat and hardener to create a smooth finish to the repaired rust hole. Smooth the topcoat using 200-grit then 400-grit sanding block. This should be enough to prepare the car body for masking, priming and painting.
Remember, this treatment can repair and fill the rust hole up. But this doesn't give you an assurance that the rust will not return.
Thanks for reading my rust repair article. Visit www.rust-repair.com for some great info regarding rust removal and repair.
Don't let your car and wallet fall victim to high auto rust repair costs.

Best Tires for Different Countries

Depending on what the area of living is, there are several types of different tires that are appropriate to be used in the particular region. Summer, all season and winter tires are the major three possible options. There are countries that need only one kind of wheels, but there are others that have to use more than one.

Winter tires can be proper for places where the whole year the temperatures are below zero degrees, or where the winter is heavy with snow, ice and cold temperatures. As from the name, it is quite easy to determine the main purpose of this type of tires and precisely for that, they are made from soft materials to have excellent adhesion with the road surface when in snowfall or just when icy. We can use them in warm condition, but they aren't so stable like the all season or the summer wheels, moreover, the soft grabs will erase for a short time, hence we won't be able to use them again in heavy weather conditions.
As we can observe very well the all season tires are for the whole year. However, this isn't the implicit truth, because in minus temperatures they aren't steady enough for safety and stable driving as the winter tires. Therefore, their aim is to be used in regions where it is very hot and not so, dry and very wet, perfect for three seasons in the year: fall, summer and spring. It is obvious that if you live in Alaska, west parts of Canada or somewhere else with only winter conditions, they will be inappropriate. However, if you are citizen of some African countries or another hot country you will have these tires until their wearing off. For instance, in Europe, the all season wheels will be perfect for at least nine months; because there are can be marked the all four seasons.
Last but not least, are the summer tires. Again it is fairly clear that they are with functionality only in the summer, or just when the area is with hot weather conditions. In fact, in areas like Miami, Florida and other places with temperatures above twenty degrees all year round, the summer tires are the perfect choice. But if we examine the countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, Germany, England and many others that have four seasons, then there is only four or five months possibility to use them. Indeed, they are created with the main aim to stand up to quite high degrees without erasure of the treads, because when it is very hot the asphalt becomes hotter and the grabs need to consist substances from solid materials.
Over all, according to the weather and countries' conditions we have to drive our vehicles with wheels that respond to the weather conditions.
To find out more about the winter tires and all-season tires, take a look at those 2 articles.

Will Regular Maintenance and Using Mopar Parts Keep Your Vehicle Running Like a Charm?

Regular preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment is one of the best ways to keep them operating at their optimal peak. This is both for safety as well as to prevent unneeded costly repairs due to the lack of proper care. Owners of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles have the benefit of using quality Mopar parts. Mopar is actually short for motor parts. It was originally used by Chrysler in the 1920's and the name just stuck. Today they are still providing all the necessary parts and equipment to help you keep your vehicle on the road in mint condition.

It is very important to set up a regular maintenance schedule for your vehicle. The tires and brakes are two of the most important items to keep in top condition. The tire pressure should be checked at least once per month and the tires rotated every 6000 miles. Regularly check for wear. Many people like to use the penny test. Insert a penny in between the treads, if Lincoln's head can be seen it is time for new tires. A good rule of thumb for brakes is to have the mopar parts such as the hoses, fluids and cylinder checked each time you have your oil changed.
The wiper blades are often an item that is overlooked but very important to safety. They should be inspected every six months and replaced with Mopar parts if they start leaving streaks or making noise. Hoses should be checked regularly for any signs of cracking, splitting, sponginess or swelling. Bad hoses can cause engine failure. The belts are equally as important as the hoses and should be checked for the same type of wear. V-belts should be changed every 36,000 miles and the serpentine belt is good up to 50,000 miles.
The battery and spark plugs can both affect the performance of your vehicle. If you try to start your car and the instrument panel dims, the engine is hard to crank, the headlights look dim or all you hear is a clicking noise then that is a serious sign you are in need of a Mopar parts battery. It should always be replaced when it is four years old and checked every 3000 miles. To keep your car running at its peak efficiency the spark plugs need to be changed every 30,000 miles on the older vehicles and 100,000 miles on the newer models. Check your manual for specific time frames for your vehicle as well as other important checks you can perform to keep you vehicle in first class condition.

Vorsteiner BMW GTSR3 M3 at SEMA 2010

This you see is the spectacular preparation on a BMW M3 Vorsteiner been made in, denominating GTSR3 Vorsteiner BMW M3. From Vorsteiner already had advanced as images of study, but now when we can see “live” and, indeed, much more impressive.

The cosmetic kit includes most generous defense, a new rear bumper with diffuser, trunk lid with integrated spoiler, a new hood with cooling vents (made in carbon fiber), new tires, exhaust gas system, sports exhaust, made Stainless steel … That is, much “plastic” on all sides, but without compromising on quality, as is customary in Vorsteiner.

Car body kits for primary purposes are used as cosmetic tools for your car, yet they have a potential of implicating a radical change in the appearance of the car. However applying just a body kit and assuming that car modification job has been performed very well is a misconception many armature car modifiers bear. One should always choose a body kit best aligning with the lines of your car.One should always choose a body kit best aligning with the lines of their cars. Kits requiring spray and paint should be properly sprayed or one should be prepared to spend extra bucks once the kit starts to peel off.

One problem faced during a car modification or installing a new body kit is that the colors seldom match with whole car and it is very difficult to find or maintain the right color combination for the car. However good opportunity arises when fitting a new kit, to respray the whole car so to have a suitable color combination.

Some tips regarding front bumper and grill seems to be appropriate here. New bumpers especially the front one lack the physical strength as compared to the standard one so provide less protection against any crash. Similarly new grills, one finds it usually to be very difficult to install when the remaining body kits has been already applied. So when installing grills and vents a person should be very conscious of the order with which he is going to install the body kit or a lot of time will be wasted in fitting and unfitting the kit.

Off the shelf body kits may look attractive in their packing but they rarely compliment the car and most of the time they fail to enhance the look of the car. So the best way is to get your car a new custom body kit from any specialist body shop. But remember when you have opted for yourself to become a car modifier then don't be a miser in spending some extra money on good quality body kits. This hobby sure requires some high investments. Going for cheap, low quality kits would simply mean that you are wasting your money and time. Don't ever be reluctant in spending some money on good ones as well fitted body kits can prove to be real investments which is definitely going to pay off in future in the form of sponsorship contracts and air time at local TV programs.

A good way to ensure that all the parts are fitted in their required order is to read the instruction manual carefully on the packing of the body kits and make sure all the parts provided in the list are present. Just lay down all the parts around the car and hold them against body work in order to make sure for the best fit.

When cutting holes for the exhaust, ensure that you always strive for 1-2cm wider than what actually is required so that you don't have to face any irritation just in case you commit a mistake in measuring the required diameter of the hole. However to measure the hole's diameter, use cardboard template for best results.

Many people love to spray their kits before fitting it to the car. However much better results have been witnessed when the kit is sprayed on the vehicle. Carbon fiber panels are much lighter than an ordinary one and they are best in reducing the overall car weight as well as maintaining the rigidity. Are you fed up of small scratches occurred mostly during the parking? Well again installation of good quality kits seems to be the only remedy for this problem besides being more conscious on the road.

Low skirts beside enhancing the look of your ride also increases the cornering speed but a bad job in fitting them can cause the problems of grounding at bumps as well as drastic effects on the cooling ability of the engine. At the end make sure to check the temperature Gauge to ensure that the car is not heating up quickly because of installation of new body kit. Be careful to fit the kit on stiffer suspension. This will sure have some implications on the usability of the car but it will avoid the problems of grounding of your car because of the new weights of body kits applied to your ride.

The World Of Modified Cars - A Brief History

Tracing the rise of the British modified car and associated cruise scene back to its roots has always been the source of much debate. Many would point back to the original vintage and classic car rallies of the 50's and 60's. Others make reference to the legendary Ace Cafe London to Brighton cruise, an event synonymous with classic motorcyclists. The notorious hot rod scene also argues a strong case, in fact many popular modifications derive from that era. It all depends how far you want to go back in time, perhaps to the point from which you hold the fondest memories. Everybody of course, has their own view.

Most of us however would agree that the birth of the modified car world as we know it today, truly began in the early eighties. Iconic car launches including the MK1 Golf GTi, the Escort RS Turbo, the Renault 5 GT Turbo and the Peugeot 205 GTi created a market of dedicated followers with a passion for performance cars that would last a lifetime.

In the late eighties and early nineties these cars were joined by a new raft of Japanese imports, fuelling demand and raising the profile of the scene even further. Honda, Toyota, Nissan and Subaru sold the Civic, Supra, Skyline and Impreza in huge volumes, in many ways repairing some of the damage caused by years of lacklustre models and shoddy reliability. European manufacturers responded to the Japanese influx with a wave of iconic motors including the BMW M3 E36, the Peugeot 306 GTi-6, the Renault Clio Williams, the Vauxhall Calibra Turbo and the Volkswagen Corrado VR6. Thousands of former petrol heads look back at this era with affection, and good examples of such models still attract high prices.

'Boy Racer' Culture

At the turn of the century, the scene was changing once again. Modified cars were getting wilder, budgets were becoming more flamboyant and the target market was getting younger. 'Chav culture' had well and truly taken over, re-igniting the rise of the 'boy racer'. The scene was awash with negative publicity, police intervention and cruising crackdowns but despite this, the modified car business was at its peak. Industry leading magazines such as Max Power and Fast Car were reporting record sales, and body shops and tuning centres had never had it so good. Following the release of cult film The Fast And The Furious, and console games such as Need For Speed, as dusk fell in every major town, cruisers could be seen prowling the streets in greater and greater numbers.

Ironically, due to the dramatic rise in insurance and fuel costs, or possibly because modified car fans were getting younger, engine sizes were actually getting smaller. Despite the fact that many enthusiasts were still driving powerful motors such as the Saxo VTS or Leon Cupra R, cars such as the Corsa C, Fiesta Zetec and Polo MK4 were becoming immensely popular.

Challenging Times

This trend brought with it a massive shift in consumer spending. Whilst the styling market had never been so lucrative, the tuning sector was almost grinding to a halt. Older enthusiasts who could afford the insurance and running costs of tuned high-performance cars were growing older and settling down. Cosworths were traded in for Mondeos, and thousands of modified cars were scrapped or dismantled for parts.

It is difficult to say exactly when it happened but to make matters worse, by 2002 the market was flooded with cheaply made bolt-on parts. The shift in spending from tuning to styling parts meant that the products in demand were now less complex to manufacture. As a result, hundreds of businesses in the UK started importing directly from factories in China. Everyone was copying products from someone else, and with more and more consumers buying goods from eBay, quality stepped down and price became king.

If ever the industry has experienced a 'dark time', this was certainly it. Droves of retailers closed their doors, and British product manufacturers slashed their product development budgets or even went out of business. Never was this more poignant than in 2006 when the UK's biggest performance exhaust brand Magnex ceased trading. To the modified car scene this was the equivalent of losing Woolworths from the British high street, and although the brand is thankfully now under new ownership, it proves how difficult a period the industry had suffered.

The Road To Recovery

At the time of writing, the modified car scene is still in troubled waters but despite being in the midst of a global recession, we're beginning to see positive signs of recovery,. We're also seeing further changes in buying habits. Whilst the market is still very styling-orientated, demand for high quality parts is growing. Despite the fact that pre-modified cars such as the Corsa VXR, Civic Type-R and Focus ST are growing in popularity and diminishing the need for aftermarket modifications, sales of premium styling parts from quality manufacturers such as Lumma, Team Dynamics and Momo are on the increase.

Product development is back in full swing, and it is interesting to note that many parts are now being developed for brand new models such as the Suzuki Swift, the new Corsa D and surprisingly, for prestige models including the BMW M6 and Porsche Cayenne. This may be in response to the previous credit boom that granted mass access to newer, more expensive cars, or even due to the credit crunch, with owners choosing to modify their cars as an alternative to replacing them.

So What Now?

Whatever the reason, the market is changing. Styling parts are becoming more subtle and are being manufactured to a higher standard. European models, particularly German, are back in favour and sales of mild tuning parts such as braking and suspension components are recovering. Customers are now getting a better deal, not by sacrificing quality but by shortening the supply chain. The industry is getting leaner, meaner and is growing in confidence, and that is definitely a good thing.

I believe the modified car scene is preparing itself for another revolution. Quite where we'll end up remains to be seen but it's fair to say there are some interesting times ahead, and that the world of custom cars is still well and truly alive.

Shielding Your Car From the Sun - Choosing the Right Material for You

Uv rays are harmful for everyone, including cars. The sun's rays bleach the exterior finish of the vehicle, and the paintwork becomes faded away. The looks old way before it's time. In addition when the vehicle is left standing in the sun for long periods of time, then it starts to get stuffy and overheated. This is more than just unbearable to drive. The internals specs of the paint too get ruined in the heat. So all in all, when a paint is left out in the sun, all that remains is an unhappy car and driver.

The Sunbrella is perfect for anyone who lives in a mostly hot climate with the occasional rainfall. The acrylic fibres used in the manufacturing of Sunbrella is naturally UV rays resistant. This is the best offer of protection for the car. When auto car covers are naturally resistant, and don't need any treatment to reach this level of resistance, they are much more durable. The treatment will not fade with time and therefore the auto car covers will be long lasting.
The acrylic material of Sunbrella car covers is also resistant to the growth of mildew and or rot. Bird droppings, tree sap and the like, will be unable to penetrate through the auto car covers, and the car will remain stain free. It also prevents any dust from finding its way onto the car, ensuring that the car remain totally clean and spotless.
In the event of the occasional rainfall, the Sunbrella is also water resistant and made of scratch free material. This is albeit at a much lower level, but is sufficient enough for the odd shower or two. However, it will prove to be inadequate for a downpour.
Covercraft offers the Sunbrella auto covers in five handsome colors; Pacific Blue, Sky Blue, Cadet Grey, Jet Black or Toast. This means that even when the car is covered, it remains good looking and classy, just like the car hidden beneath it. Did you know seat covers are also made from this material?
