Ways in which the Bicycle Scheme Works

While many countries have implemented the bicycle scheme with great success, others are not quite familiar with how the system works for the benefit of both the employer and the employee. As an employer, it is important for you to understand the fact that as part of the scheme, you can loan a bike to your employee who agrees to pay for the same through a salary exchange scheme. The charges are deducted from the gross salary through a monthly reduction scheme. The employee is willing to accept a comparatively less salary for the pay back period.

At the conclusion of the pay back period, the employee is given the option of either returning the bike against the payment of a nominal amount or that of purchasing the bike. The schemes are designed in a way that the employer can make the most of the tax exemptions. Before implementing such a scheme, it is necessary to consider the bike tax scheme in place. There might also be some legislative requirements that should also be taken into account. These include:

  • The adoption of compliant documentation as per the Consumer Credit Act
  • Carrying out a proper salary exchange scheme through the company payroll that is regulated by the revenue and customs department

As an employer, you can choose to purchase all bicycles at one go and exercise your rights over them for the complete duration of the scheme. The scheme can also be availed through a lease. When it comes to leasing, the ownership of the bikes rests with the leasing company. Under any of these situations, the ownership right of the bike are transferred to the employee at the conclusion of the scheme and after the nominal payment is complete. Several companies have adopted the scheme and have encouraged their employees to abide by it.

The Fuel-efficient, Pollution-free, Family Vehicle

Since its introduction in the market in 2005, the Highlander has remained one of the favorites in the fuel-efficient, safe, family SUV category. The 2011 model of this Toyota Hybrid redefines the concept of the family vehicle with its stylish exteriors, spacious and cozy interiors and superb features!

What is the key specialty of this hybrid? The Hybrid Synergy Drive is the high point of the Highlander! The vehicle can run with the gasoline-powered engine, the electric motors or the combination of both. Whether it uses either or both, the vehicle has the ability to achieve an amazing 28 city/highway mpg rating, as per EPA estimate.

How is this feat possible? The gas-electric variation is fitted with a 3.5-liter V6 engine, an improvement on the previous 3.3-liter 6. The dual-overhead cam Atkinson-cycle engine (rated at 231 hp), adds to the 2010 model. With the power from the twin electric motors, the car achieves 280 hp in all.

This Toyota SUV operates on two distinct modes –

EV Mode – in this, the vehicle uses only one of its electric motors for transmission. Suitable for low speeds and short distances, this mode helps save fuel, reduces emissions as well as noise as the gasoline engine remains not operational.

Econ Mode – in this, the throttle response remains within a certain limit to enhance fuel efficiency. This reduces fuel consumption while you continue driving at average speed under normal situations.

When you look at the instrumentation panel, you would know not just the speed, but also the mode you are driving in as well as the economical facet of your driving. The Hybrid Synergy Drive understands and employs the most efficient source of power suitable for the speed and the distance.

Star Safety System with Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management adds to the features of the vehicle. Smart Stop Technology decreases engine power when you apply the brake, helping the car stop even if the accelerator pedal is depressed. The Advanced Airbag System, 3-point seatbelts, and such others ensure driver and passenger safety.

If you are looking for a family car that looks neat, offers space for passengers and cargo, is fuel-efficient, and reduces pollution – the Highlander Hybrid can be your ideal vehicle!

Determining which car to buy for yourself

Before you go car shopping, it is a good thing to clarify certain points. The first, and most important, thing to do is know what you want. In this regard, you can take help from a car buying guide. However, keep in mind that this is not tailor-made for you, and therefore, does not necessarily tell you exactly what to buy.

Ask yourself the following questions; and the answers would give you a fair idea about what your vehicle needs to be.

  1. Is there a specific brand you want to buy?
  2. Is there a specific requirement regarding the size of the car?
  3. Do you need high performance vehicles?
  4. Are you looking for fuel efficiency?
  5. Do you prefer front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive or 4x4?
  6. What safety standards do you think essential?
  7. What warranty coverage suits your needs?

Apart from these questions, there can be other concerns as well. For example, do you need space for cargo, do you need a car with resale value, and so on. Another important question is what type of ride you prefer – a smooth, elegant ride or a cool, sporty one.

Next is the big question – what is your budget. It is true that you must not compromise on quality because of money, but you cannot upset your financial situation as well. Fix a particular amount and start looking for cars that are at least 20% lesser than that, and you would be able to get a good buy.

Another important thing to keep in mind – get the details of your dream car beforehand. Suppose you want to buy a luxury car manufactured by BMW. Get all details of the makes and models that match your criteria, learn about BMW, compare prices and then only decide on a particular one.
